It was second nature to case any place Michael was walking into, enough so that he barely looked as if he were doing it. The lobby and its ways in and out, the reception desk and the people behind it, Michael took in everything on their way towards the empty lift.
Once inside, he let the stranger punch in the right button and leaned back against the wall, very obviously looking him up and down, which was Michael's version of checking someone out. If it looked the same as assessing someone's level of threat, it was probably because he never did one without doing the other.
They were about halfway up when he met the man's gaze, and asked, on his usual even tone, "Are you going to tell me what you are?"
